bamboo grove final

1. I thought the end wasn't all that good and I think it should have been explained more on what happened to the father and ko.What happens after that. Why didn’t she go in detail more about what happens after?
2. It think that they did there traditions for a couple reasons. Because that was there new home they were probably thinking that they should try then to. I think in that position my family would have done the same because we work hard for our money and use it for the important stuff first like food even though I wish it just grew on tress and I could just by junk with it.
3. I respect all of the charters but the one who I just really respect is Mr.Niado. I respected him allot because even though people may mess with him because of his stutter it doesn’t affect him making friends with someone he will listen to what he says. I also respect him because he is a kind person like when little one needed the pencils and paper he said I will give you some if you follow me to the fernessroom.
4. In this novel I learned that the U.S.S.R.were big chickens well at least acted like one's because they declared war on Japan. Japan had been weakened drastically by the atomic bombs dropped by the United States. I also learned that they bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima because they are big cities and they did not bomb Kyoto because that city has allot of there culture there.
5. Well the kawashima family did allot of sharing even though they didn’t have much to offer and I hope that more people are more like that. Also the world isn’t all good like when that solider killed his own man in front of his other men when they got though robbing the civilians.

bambooo grove #4

1.  I think Yoko wants to help Mr. Naido cause  both of them are and seem alike. Yoko helps Mr. Naido with his speech/stuttering and in return sorta  he saves papers, pencils and erasers to help her and her family. also because he was the only person who was nice o her and he is here only friend sorta. her father did the same thing for a person who stuttered and is sorta following in her footsteps.

2. i think She realizes that ko wasn't doing anything for school she is trying to make more money to buy something cool  for little one/yoko for the New Year. This shows yoko that ko is a nice and caring sister because she would go out of here way to get good food ad make her sisters life that much better.

3.  ummmmmmmmm.. how did you reacted when you read that there mother had died???????????? how did you reacted??

bambo grove op #3

John Rozar

1. I think the kawashimas had to leave Korea because the Korean Communist were killing all the Japanese peoples. if i was Japanese that would be a good enough reason for me to leave. another reason is because allot of women and little girls were being raped and there brother and dad weren't with them just three girls walking but lucky for them they have a sword.

2. i agree with them i would have left to. if they wouldn't have left when they did they might not have had a chance to go to japan or they could have been killed. also i think hideo understands why they left and he knows that the 3 of them could easily protect them self and its easier him finding them then them waiting at home 4 him to return from the factory.

3. so umm how would you feel if you had  to leave one of ure family members behind knowing a war was going on and killing all the people of your race??? how would you feel if it was you that was left???

bamboo grove po #2

1.I think Hideyo thinks of himself as a man that thinks he can do what he wants or make a living without any help. At times he can be  say stuff or do something and say stuff he don't really mean or be a bit stubborn.for a example when he wants to  join the army  he doesn't realize that it could vary well lead to a injury or death.
2. first i would get my football bag because its a big bag and i would put a sweat shirt and 2 pares of closes in it. then i would get some food items that wont spoil or go bad i would also get my money (i don't know why). my cell phone a blanket a flashlight with spare batteries Nintendo ds cant get bored have to have something to do. i would bring these items because i cant live without them except maybe he ds......nope couldn't live without video games.
3. So far I think that the most shocking and also the most mest up part is when Koreans attacked the Ammunition's factory were Hideyo was working. I thought it was because it's really not cool to just shoot and kill many people who are trying to defend themselves. also how hideyo's friends were in the bathroom stall when it happened and they blew up the factory when the were done killing every one. Its a good thing that hideyo got out when he did other wise he could be dead.

Bamboo Grove Post #1

1. . i think that yoko is a confident happy person that is worried write know because of whats going on. also she cares about herself and also cares about other people other then herself. like when she gave the new mom who just had a son food and all of her other things to the woman and her new baby.

2..Yoko i think knows how nice Ko.But ko can come off a bit bossy and may sound like a evil heartless person but most older sisters are but ko is really nice. Ko is very nice to Yoko like when she carried yoko across the bridge when yoko was scared. i think yoko didn't meen she was a horrible sister because every one who has a sibling has called them mean or horrible or some nasty name at least once.

3. The way the Kawashima family well the girls of the family acted to the patients in the train car was shocking and mabye a little scared that this could have been them. But Ko and Yoko and ms.kawashima tried to help as much as possible by taking patients out off the other cars when the train got attacked and like what yoko did when she gave them food and water. Ko and her mother also tried their best to comfort the patients.

in the book its very suspenseful and i always plan to stop at a chapter. it makes me want to keep Reading even though i not supposed to like books.
question #2: what is something you like about the authors style
something i like is before every chapter in this book there is a quote by someone totally different author and the quote always goes with what you read in the chapter. also theirs a picture of something descriptive like when i was reading about this thing called a martin and it describes it really well and on the chapter page it was there. (last weeks response was a description of a martin}

question #6:what was one of your favorite lines in the book you read today?

The creature was almost the size of a rabbit, but much thinner, with a bushy tail now draped over Dustfinger's chest inspecting Meggie with its gleaming beady black eyes. And when it yawned it bared teeth as sharp as needles.

I chose this small paragraph because it showed how descriptive the author is. I liked how the author had metaphors like for example when it yawned it bared teeth as sharp as needles. the creature the author is talking about is what one of the charters name Dustfinger pulled out of his backpack. The little creature is called a marten but they call it Gwin.

question #4 what exciting events just happened?

we found out about a little thing called a martin that usually don't have little horns but Dustfingers does. I think the martin will come up later in the book because it's on the cover.

final wave post

1. I think this quote means that you should never change yo self to fit in with a other group of people. a way i can apply this to my life is if a bunch of kidz and if some of my friends were smoking or drinking undera aged and you know its wrong dont do it to fit in with every one else

2. well inthe begging of the book robert was not so cool and unpopular acording to the other students. but i think once the wave stated to take off he becme mopre like the other studnts and he was a equal to them and he strated hanging out with the kids that were suposedly kool. i think he will still be consedrd cool because every one has seen his real side of him aa good friend and pretty cool to hang out with.

3.A...well the whole book is. cause mr. ross is in charge of every one but he wasnt really trying for it to be like that but its just how it turned out.

3.B...a example is when the country was segergaded still Rosa parks wouldnt move on the bus for a white man. it is a good xmple because the white people thought they were beder and suprior and every 1 has to look up to them. but now her in the presnt and for the future there a law about race well actully descrmation. but just because threres a law doesnt meen it still doesnt happen because descremation happens every were still.

4. mob mentality

per presure is pretty much mob mentality think you should always do what u think is right just because every one else is doing somthing before you do it ask your self is this right. do

OP #5

1. know question on blog

2. (meaning Adolf Hitler) "listen do either of you guys know 2 students that arent involved in the wave? 2 students who the wave never had and won't miss". that stood out to me the most from the book because it showed you how far the wave is going and how many students joined. all the students were hooked basicly but 2.

3. what did you guys think of the book???

Monday, October 8, 2007

OP #4

1. so i think that Ben is feeling kinda mixed up because when he first created the experiment he thought it would be a harmless class experiment. but it ended up being very chaotic and he quickly lost control of it. a small amount of teachers like the wave but many other teachers don't like the wave and he might be feeling kinda worried that it night get him FIRED.

2. this is the sentence that stood out to me the most "Come on, Laurie, the only reason you're against The Wave is because it means you're not a princess anymore." it stood out to me because Laurie got the same response from David that she got from Amy. also its funny because it shows how people are talking about the wave as if it was some kind of person.

3. How do you think Laurie feels and thinks about this? do you think Laurie and her friends are gonna try to stop the wave? if so how?

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

OP #3

1) when people were starting to ditch other classes to go into Mr. Ross's, is when da Wave was starting to go way control. Also when they had The pep rally change to da Wave pep rally is when i also it lost control. One other thing is that the kids answers are shorter.

2) "At which they will formally indoctrinate two hundred new members" (73 paragraph 3 ). so i chose this sentence because it tells how the wave is going probably further then Mr Ross had planed. its taking over the pep rally and there calling it a wave rally.

3) Question:Do you agree with da class about The Wave that it is a good thing for everyone or do you agree with Laurie's mom that it is not good 4 everyone???

Monday, October 1, 2007

OP #2

1) The motto 'Strength through discipline' is already going through the school already because in the class students are behaving and there disaplend. if the wave sperd to the football team the will go undafeeted and will probaly make history.

2) The sentence that really stood out to me was " What I mean is ," Robert said nervously, " the whole idea of The Wave is that the people in it have to support it. If we're really a community, we all have to agree" "(pg. 64 paragraph 2).well i chose this parahraph because they want there city to be perfect. also have no problems. But nothing can be perfect so we know that that wont happen.

3) What iz da true meaning for The Wave to be in effect??????

THE WAVE OP #1

OP #1

Q1.The Wave occurred in a high school history class in Palo Alto, California, in 1969.
At there school they used typewriters instead of laptops like we do. the writer also gave it away by saying they used film projectors. Also high school kidz were smoking cigarettes which was what really made it fit in wit its time period.

Q2. The human skeletons had the gruesome task of stacking the dead under the watching eyes of the Nazi soldiers".(page 10 paragraph 2).this is the sentence that stood out to me the most. This sentence stood out to me because how could someone force other humans to do such a horrible job like that. Also it made me wonder what would happen to the people they made do that because it said Nazi soldiers were watching so i would think that they would kill them then stack them there like the other skeletons.

Q3why does every well allot of students pick on Robert Billings and also why do they think he is so strange???

BETTY ANN

1. I think it was at that moment when i began to see what we had been doing. "Why don't you girls like Betty Ann? she likes you..."
Well I chose this part because i thought it was the most mest up part of the story cause the girl had no friends and people still didn't want to work with her even tho she does most the work. I also chose it because it tells you how much the mom cares for her daughter and all she wants is her daughter to have friends.

2. i would have ignored them when they were teasing her about what she said and ate and clothes that she wore.

3. i think the whole point of this story is don't exclude people when you know you wouldn't want to be either and don't do something that may cause to mess up there lives mentally.

7TH GRADE

He scoweld and his upper lip quivered. well i thoght it was pretty funny how he took it out a mazinen and I thoght it was wierd how he actully thought people liked it. I coneted to the story because I had to take spanish to years ago. I have mexican friends like Victor. Last but not least im 7th grader like Victor.

RESPONSE TO "TEST

1.Makes better drivers of them, more careful drivers the rest of there life. i thought what that sentence meant was it made them better drivers by terrorizing them for the rest of there life and made them not really want to drive.

2.I think in one way its good to see if they would cause a hit an run accident and to see how they would react to a accident. I also think its not tho to because its not right to put them threw that and if they say there ready for there license and then say there sick and need mental help.

3."How do any of us know?" I thought what Theodore L. Thomas was saying is well actually there are many different reasons. one reason for instants is it life could be a dream. but it could just be how you think about it. This is what he wanted us to do just be left puzzled at the end.

Ms. I's mist Movie

In my class today we watch a movie since one of my teachers was not there. well some facts that i did not know before was that lions don't usually hunt elephants but if there hungry enough the whole pack will go after the same one so they could bring it down. I also learned that lions could live off one elephant for a week. well Ms. I you mist a pretty OK movie but my favorite part of it was the hunting scenes. I didn't know that when filming at night for a documentary you have to use special lights called inferred because there pitch black to the naked eye but when you film it works like night vision goggles. Last but least is i learned that fig trees grow figs all year long. I have much more things i learned i just don't want to type them all.

my favorite book from 6th grade

My favorite book last year was The Last Book in the Universe. I liked it because there are allot of things that can happen in the future like most people think were going to get more types of technology but in this book its totally different. There are these groups of people like gangs that have taken over the city's. The main story line of this book is one old man named Ryter has a idea to write a book, even though he may be punished. Which may leed to death for doing so. Spaz is also trying to leave his city to see his dying sister. This a extremely good book and I recommend it to allot of fifth and sixth graders.
