what is what post 3

Quote #1
Page 187
Said by Valentino
“In front of me, I saw nothing but boys, some of them bathing in the water. Behind me, there was nothing but darkness and a path.”

When I read his quote I thought here was nothing really but I read it again and made it my quote. The river was a good thing because it was somewhere that they could bathe. And if you think about It when they were doing this there wasn’t much to look forward to but seeing that they could maybe have more things to look o. also because he saw someone he had not seen in such along time.
Question #1 if you had thought one of your friends was dead and then you see them how would you react? Or what would be going though your head at that time?

Quote #2

Said by I don’t member
"Out there everyone is trying to kill each other, and those who don't try to kill each other, god is trying to kill “
I thought that this was a good quote because it shows how dangerous it was out there. Like e everyone is killing or trying to get stuff from people send if your not one of them then they say god try’s to kill you by what I think like limited food and water. Its sad on what is actually happing in other places was here we take it for granted on how good we have it.
Question #2 if you were in hat poison would you try to find your own food or would you be greedy and selfish and try to take someone else’s food?

what is what post 2

Quote #1
Page 91
Said by narrator
Moses ran and found himself along a fence, without outlet. The horseman bore down and i turned away.

I think its sad how he lost one of his best friends right in front of him. I know its bad but at least he went to a better place. If mosses had not had ran I wonder if he would have been caught and not lived. I think he wouldn’t have because he would have died.
Question #1: if mosses were not to have ran do you think he would have made? And would he have lived?

Quote #2

Said by faceless
I told him that I only wanted to get back to Marital Bai.
For what? To be killed? Where do you think I got this? Where do you think I lost my face, stupid boy?"

I think this quote was good because it shows if he had stayed there he wouldn’t have survived. He would have died I think. So he almost had like no choice in away because he could stay and high die or go to America and live his life. If I were in his situation I would go to America to. The guy ran from a battle because it said in book I don’t know if it was smartest but he did it.
Question #2: if you were in his shoes what would you have done.

what is the what 1`

Quote #1

Page 4

Said by Dave actually more of a thought

"Its strange thing, I realized, but what I think at this moment is that I want to be back in Kakuma. In Kakuma there was no rain, the winds blew nine months of the year, and eighty thousand war refugees from Sudan and elsewhere lived on one meal a day. But this moment, when the women is in y bedroom and the man guarding me with his gun, I want to be in Kakuma refugee camp, where I lived in a hut of plastic and sandbags and owned one pair of pants. I am not sure if there was evil of this kind in Kakuma refugee camp, and I want to return."

It relates to question 4(what challenges have your character faced upon their arrival. A women comes banging on his door saying she needed to call the police because her car had trouble so he letter in but thinking it weird to call police for it. Then a guy comes in to his house with a gun and holding him there. he left Kakuma because of it was bad and wasn’t they best but they had stuff happen that wasnt as bad as that he been robbed but little things becasue valubles there were matress and here he had t.vs and stuff. then he comes here to get a gun pointed at him. if i was in his shoes i would want to be back home in Kakuma refugee camp to.

Question- if you had some one coming into your house and lock them self in your room then some one else comes in with a gun how would you feel?

Quote 2

Said by Dave

"Written words are rare in small villages like mine, and it is my right and obligation to send my stories into the world, even if silently, even utterly powerless"

This quote relates to question 6 (how do the characters maintain their cultural ties and their homeland while living in America?) when he was in the small village things went on so now that has out of there he feels he needs to tell the world what was like now that he’s gone. His silent telling is though writing i think. I connected to this when becasue i fell that you should talk about what you journey or changing if you came from some were not so good then you come here.

Question- what dies this quote mean to you?

New Museums

Part 1 from heaven to home:
I think the purpose of this field trip was to show and let us know the history of the Jews and there time that they had here in America. While we were in the exit I learned a lot of things that I have never been told or even knew about before that day. In 1654 the first Jewish people came to America. The first Barbie made was by a Jewish lady named Ruth Handler. . I also learned that in the years 1654-1766 the Jews fought for equality because other feared that if they accepted the Jews they’d have to except everyone else. 23 Jewish adults and kids came first and arrived in Dutch colony New Amsterdam. Many Jews in north were against slavery and many in south agreed with there fellow white citizens. Civil war in 1861 about 7,000 Jews fought for the union and about 3,000 fight for confederacy.

Part 2 children of immigrants
Part A- the photograph that struck me well that I did was a photo of the Walt Disney magnet school in Chicago in 1999. I liked this photo because the school was full of diversity of many races. I could relate because our school high tech middle is like that. Also because many schools outside US have many people who look same and believe in the same and immigrants form other places is what makes us unique.
Part B- the quote I chose what "The greatest thing I hoped for in my life is to become a successful person and to have a family and friends to support me, not to be looked at by the color of my skin but also who I am inside." -Samira Durakovic, Yugoslavia. I chose this quote because she saying she wants her family and friends to support he and for people to see who she is on the inside and not just the color of her skin or how she looks or he religion. Many non-white people or minorities’ probable feel this way to and I chose it because many people could connect and I liked how she worded it in her quote.

immigration

What is an immigrant?
What I think of an immigrant is a person who moves from another country to some other country were they are not form. The immigrant sometimes for good or some for bad depending on why they go or were they go. There are many reasons people immigrate like many people have a different religion then the one there country focuses on. Also they may because some countries have more money so there cleaner and many don’t have such good educations so they immigrant to a country that does. Wars cause people I think to immigrate a lot because it could be happing write outside were they live. Some times people immigrate but not on there choice like slaves they were bright against there will to work for people because of there color.

What does our country have to offer that other countries may not offer?
Our country can provide good edition to children. They made it the law that a person gas to go to school from the age of 4 years old to I think 17. we have many jobs here and that means if you lived some were else that doesn’t have much money there or jobs you could immigrate here and work or apply for a green card or work visa and work here and you could send money back home to your family. We have our 1st amendment of freedom of speech and freedom of religion so you can believe in your religion here and not be judged on it or be forced to believe in a sestina thing.

How has the US been affected with immigration?
There is so many people her with different ethnicity and religious backgrounds here. We have many different things here that I think wouldn’t be here if people had not have immigrated like all the different restaurants we have you can pretty much get food from almost any were. There is no segregation allowed in the US it is illegal and against the law. They say it isn’t allowed but it still happens. Many families and people come and try to get here so the can live a free life.

How has your life changed due to immigration?
Since every body family had immigrated her I think none of us would exist. If it weren’t for my ancestors immigrating here my parents would not have met and I would not be existing.
