TKAM POST #6

Journal #6 - Chapters 15-19 - Perspective: tom Robison

People all though out Maycomb came into to town to see my trial. Probably 98% of the people were against me and believed I had raped this girl. They say it’s a fair trial and I have a chance to prove that I didn’t but I knew it wasn’t a fair trial. Me a black males word against a white females word who will the prejudice court believe. I know aticus will try as hard as he can to prove me innocent even if he knows I have know chance. At least I can look up and see all these people up top praying for me and know I had did nothing.
First to the stand Mr. Tate. He should have never been called to the stand he only knows what Mr. Ewell and Ms. Mayella Ewell had told him. Which was not the truth? Then Mr. Ewell went to the stand. There stories were different in many areas and you could tell that neither really knew what went on. Mr. Ewell didn’t really answer many questions he just agreed with what Mr. Tate stated. It was weird Atticus was asking him questions then ask a question what seemed to be irrelevant. He asked him to write his name on a piece of paper. He did so with his left hand. Mayella had many bruises up and down her right side of her body. I didn’t get it at first but I could see what Atticus was thinking. For her to have bruises on her right side a left handed person hit her with there left while she was pinned down with the right hand. And the jury will see I could not have done it because my right arm about 10 inches shorter then right and I have no use of it. Mr. Ewell did not look happy about these questions it wasn’t subsequent to what he wanted.
Finally Mayella was called up. The girl I was accused of raping. She started crying as soon as she got to the stand I don’t know why. She was really scared of Mr. Finch I think she tensed up and got really nervous when he asked her questions. She didn’t want the judge to see there fraud of accusing me. Atticus was asking her question after question as she went on her story got really twisted up you could tell it wasn’t the truth. Then after one question she stayed crying again. He asked her if it was her father who beat her…she had no response. It was obvious she was in a predicament.
When they called me to the stand I wasn’t nervous all I was going to do was speak the truth. Mr. Finch was asking me easy simple questions at firs how I knew her? What work I did for her? Then he asked me what really happened my story was very different to threes but it was the Truth. Mayella asked me to get her something I stood up on the chair and she grabbed my leg freaked me out I jumped down. Then she started hugging me I tried to get her off but not push or harm her. She then hugged me around my waist and asked me to kiss her. As I struggled her father walked in he was calling Mayella a whore and threatening to kill her. I didn’t know what else to do. I was stealth when I left. Then I herd I was accused of raping her.

I think you could include more details. For example when you say they say I raped this girl, you could have included who the girl was.
